Permitted use
Exploratory research, teaching, learning, and other non-commercial scholarly activities.
Prohibited use
- Commercial use, resale, paid services, advertising, or commercial product and service development without prior written permission.
- Clinical diagnosis, patient care, treatment selection, medical advice, or regulatory and safety decisions.
- Any unlawful, unethical, or misleading use, including presenting exploratory output as independently validated evidence.
Research responsibility
Independently verify all results against the primary data and appropriate experimental methods. Cite the original datasets and publications, and comply with applicable laws, institutional requirements, ethics approvals, and source-data licenses.
Allen Institute data citation
When publishing, presenting, or otherwise sharing outputs derived from Allen Institute brain data, cite the exact Allen Brain Cell Atlas dataset and the Yao et al. (2023) primary publication. Link to the source dataset or specific data view where possible, following the Allen Institute Citation Policy.
Limitations
The app and its outputs are provided “as is” for exploratory use, without a guarantee of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Users are responsible for how they interpret and use the results.
